BRED Group appoints new CEO
BRED Group has appointed Mr. Jean-Paul Julia as its new Chief Executive Officer following the retirement of Mr. Olivier Klein whose inspiring leadership has helped to transform the French banking group over the last 10 years.
Mr. Julia joined BRED Group (which includes BRED Bank Cambodia’s owners, BRED Banque Populaire) in 2015 as Director of Corporate Banking and, more recently, has been serving in the role of Chief Executive Officer of Banque Populaire Bourgogne Franche-Comté. Before joining BRED, Mr. Julia spent time at the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry, in a successful career that saw him tackle a variety of roles at the General Directorate of the Treasury, the Interministerial Committee for Industrial Restructuring, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Office of the Minister of Finance and Public Accounts.
“I am particularly happy and proud to join BRED and honoured by the trust placed in me by the Board of Directors,” he said, committing himself to expanding BRED’s exceptional relationship model at home and abroad. “I will strive to continue to develop BRED Group in conjunction with each of its regions, in France and internationally.”
Meanwhile, the Group’s board praised outgoing CEO, Mr. Olivier Klein for his inspirational leadership over the years. “I would like to pay tribute to the remarkable work accomplished by Olivier Klein over the past 10 years,” said Isabelle Gratiant, Chairman of the BRED Board of Directors. “His energy enabled him to drive forward our local banking model, which has all the advantages to fully serve our customers.”
Meanwhile, BRED Bank Cambodia CEO, Mr. Nicolas Hollanders, welcomed the news of Mr. Julia’s appointment. “We are delighted to hear that Jean-Paul Julia has been appointed as CEO of BRED Group and we very much look forward to working with him to promote BRED’s unique approach to banking,” he said. “I’d also like to send our best wishes to Mr. Olivier Klein on his retirement. He visited us in December last year and will forever be held in high regard by the team here for his pivotal role in our bank’s history.”
